James (“Jim”) Scarbrough earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1974. Following law school he served as a law clerk for Judge Robert Martin of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Jim went on to serve as an Assistant Attorney General and was assigned to represent the Real Estate Commission and other state agencies, including the Judicial Standards Commission. As an Assistant AG, Jim also represented the state in appellate cases. In 1980 he moved to Concord, North Carolina to begin a private law practice which included real estate law and civil litigation. He has represented clients in over 100 appellate cases. In 2015 Jim joined his son John Scarbrough in forming Scarbrough & Scarbrough, PLLC.
