
John Scarbrough earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2010. During the Great Recession, John represented homeowners affected by wrongful foreclosures and mortgage servicing abuses by some of the nation’s largest lenders. In 2015, John opened his own law practice and was joined by his father Jim Scarbrough in the formation of Scarbrough & Scarbrough, PLLC. Since then, John has focused his practice on land use law and local government law. John has also served as plaintiffs’ counsel in numerous class actions which have resulted in cumulative recoveries of over $150 million.
John has extensive experience in appellate work and has argued cases before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court. He has practiced in the North Carolina Business Court, the Federal District Courts of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. John has also been admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
